In one Womans life, the story of Ukraine's War, 3 Years on

    In the years since her husband was captured by Russians, Olha Kurtmallaieva has done everything she can to speed his return.


    Olha has organized rallies to support prisoners of war, pleaded with government officials and read books to understand the psychological trauma that her husband is likely to experience.

    Ms. Kurtmallaieva, 25, and the rest of Ukraine will pass a milestone Monday tha tfew thought the country would reach: the third anniversary of Rassia's full scle invasion. In the beginning, Russia's leaders and even some US officials assumed that Russian troops owuld capture the capital, Kyiv, in a matter of days.

    In some ways, Ms. Kurtmallaieva's story is the story of this war: an invader, a fight, a loss, a stalemate, a life in limbo. ·

    "I can sit down now, start crying and say that this has been very hard and very painful," Ms. Kurtmallaieva said in a recent interview. "But I understand that I did not have another choice and still don't ahve one. I just have to keep going and live the life I have, whether it is good or bad."

American tourist, 18, fatally tosses newborn out of hotel window in Paris

    An 18 - year - old American tourist tossed her newborn out a second - floor window of a paris hotel Monday, killing the infant.

    


    Screams erupted at the ibis styles hotel in the city's bohemian 20th arroundissement, or administrative district, around 6 a.m., according to Paris Match. 
    Police rushed to the scene and found the baby, who could not be revived, the Paris prosecutor's office said in a statement to The Post.

Mike Johnson struggle over budget blueprint signal bigger problems for Trump agenda

    President Trump's ambitious agenda may be on the brink of a stinging setback in the House before it even gets started, offering a flashing warning sign about Speaker Mike Johnson's ability to deliver other key White house priorities this year.

    The upbeat Johnson acknowledged Tuesday that he may need to pull a critical vote to advance Trump's agenda later that night, with at least three Republicans vowing ot oppose it and a dozen more skeptical.

    Johnson has a math problem with a razor - thin majority.

    "It''s very complicated negotiations. A lot of numbers, a lot of factors, a lot of different opinions. But we will get there, as we always do." Johnson said.

    Although Johnson and his leadership team insist they'll ultimately succeed in passing the sprawling budget resolution to unlock Trump's legislative plans, it's not clear how they'll get there. And the outcome will have major consequences for the White House's agenda and for Johnson's own political survival as the party faces crushing dealines ahead, including avoiding a government shutdown next month and the treat of an economic default later this spring.
