Embattled Pete Hegseth had been narrowly voted as the secretary of the department of defence in the senate, as a major win for President Trump and his administration.

Vice President Vance cast a tie - breaking vote for Hegseth's nomaination after a number of former GOD Leader and Senators have joined the democrats and opposed the nomination. This is the second time in history that a vice - president broke tie for Cabinet nominee. Last time was former Vice - President Mike Pence for Betsy DeVos' in 2017 to lead the Education department, which is also in Trump's presidency.
Apparently, his allegations of sexual assault, alcohol abuse and financial mismanagement of veterans’ charities before the Friday vote had a negative influence.

The Tie - breaking vote marked a significant victory for the Trump administration, which has gone to the mat backing Hegseth as its nominee, despite his lack of experience and allegations against him. President Trump as shown great confidence toward him, would “be a great secretary,” the president said.

“We just heard that we have a great secretary of defense – we’re very happy about that, we appreciate everyone’s vote,” Trump told reporters in an early celebration as Vance was on his way to the Senate.
